Tuckahoe Update 9-29-17

Hi Tuckahoe Square Dancers!!

WOW!!  What a great “Talk-Like-A-Pirate” square dance night we had. Lis, Hazel, and Allen did a super job!! The pirate refreshments were so good, especially that “Rum Cake”…yum-yum… and the pirate decorations made it festive and fun. Thanks to all who dressed like a pirate to add to the theme of the evening. You looked good mates!! We had great music and calling from Ken Ritucci, National Caller from West Springfield, Mass, who called a fantastic square dance for us. It was a pleasure meeting Ken and we look forward to having him call for us in 2018. Our Line Dance Leader, Joy did a great job keeping us moving and grooving. Thanks again Ken, Joy, Lis, Hazel, and Allen for a fun “Talk-Like-A-Pirate” square dance evening.

A big “Thank You” to Dean Decker for making the arrangements for us to dance at River Road Church, Baptist, for our Friday night special dance. We appreciate your taking care of us on short notice.

Last night, Tuesday, September 26th, was our “Open House” for the New Dancers Class. It was so wonderful to see a great turnout!! We had 19 new students and 35 “Angels”. That deserves a big “WOW”!!! The students were doing extremely good so Gene had them dancing to more calls even the “Grand Square”. It should be a great class. Thank you “Angels” for being there to help our new dancers. Thanks to Deby and Dave for all their work in getting organized for the class and to Gene our awesome square dance teacher.

September 29th, we are back at All Saints Episcopal Church for our Friday night dance. Jeremy Butler will be our guest caller. Everyone looks forward to Jeremy calling for our dance and having fun.

October 6th , Our guest caller will be Doren McBroom at All Saints Episcopal Church.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED:  For our Halloween Ball dance at Holladay School on Saturday, October 28th, we need volunteers to help set up/break down. See Scout if you can help. All members to bring refreshments for that evening.

DON’T FORGET:   The VIRGINIA STATE FAIR will be starting September 29th through October 8th and there will be squaring dancing demos with audience participation. The State Fair will be held at the Meadow Event Park in Doswell. Entry tickets and parking passes will be available for volunteer dancers. Contact Connie Cox at 434-298-1206 or by email cc_rca@yahoo.com if you can participate and when you are available to dance. Connie still needs square dancers for each day to complete a square. It will be a great time to demonstrate square dancing to the public.

Let’s “Load the Boat” with everyone square dancing and enjoying the fun.
