Tuckahoe Update 10-3-2017

Hi Tuckahoe Square Dancers!!

What a fun square dance we had last Friday with Jeremy. We danced to “mean” Jeremy who took us through the paces…fast!! Then we danced to “nice” Jeremy who was calling nicely at the regular pace. Not sure who we liked the best, but my guess is “nice” Jeremy. But we had a blast and lots of fun!!  Dave Trimble was our Line Dance Leader who added to the dance night. Sally and Martha provided the refreshments which were good and tasty.  Thanks to Jeremy, Dave, Sally and Martha for a fun square dance evening.

This Friday, October 6th , our guest caller is Doren McBroom from Maryland at All Saints Episcopal Church. We are looking forward to Doren calling for us again on Friday.

Our schedule for October will be:

October 6th         Doren McBroom – Birthdays and Anniversaries
October 13th       Rich Steadman
October 20th       Dave Terrell & George Springer
October 27th      will be “DARK”
October 28th       Kenny Ferris & Butch Bloxum for our Halloween Ball

October 28th –Tuckahoe Squares is sponsoring the annual Halloween Dance at Holladay Elementary School with Kenny Ferris and Butch Bloxom. Early rounds at 7:30.  Square and rounds 8:00 to 10:30. Please come as your favorite character or in your favorite costume (optional).  All members to bring refreshments for that evening.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED:  For our Halloween Ball dance that Saturday, October 28th, we need volunteers to help set up/break down. See Scout if you can help.

October 14th – RSARDA Fall Dance at Holladay Elementary School with Gene Chamberlain and Christina Eum.  An hour of early rounds was added from 7:00 to 8:00.  Square and rounds from 8:00 to 10:30.

DON’T FORGET:   The VIRGINIA STATE FAIR started September 29th through October 8th and there is squaring dancing demos with audience participation. The State Fair is held at the Meadow Event Park in Doswell. Entry tickets and parking passes are available for volunteer dancers. Contact Connie Cox at 434-298-1206 or by email cc_rca@yahoo.com if you can participate and when you are available to dance. Connie still needs square dancers for each day to complete a square. It will be a great time to demonstrate square dancing to the public.

November 11th – the annual VASCA Symposium with Jack Pladdys.  The morning and afternoon sessions are open to anyone who just love to square dance.  The evening dance session is always a delight with square dancing, rounds, and lines.

Let’s “Load the Boat” with everyone square dancing and enjoying the fun.
