We were dancing at the Chamberlin, at Merchants Square in Williamsburg, on the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry, but rained-out at Edwards Ham Shop in Surry. The VASARDA State Convention was fun for all.

Tuckahoe Update 5-8-2018

Tuckahoe Square Dancers,

WOW!! What fun we had again dancing to George Springer cueing and Ken Jordan calling!! George cued to good dance songs for the round dancers. Again we had up to 5 squares on the dance floor dancing to good music with some Spanish/Mexican songs to go along with our theme, Cinco de Mayo!!  With it also being baseball season, Ken even called a couple of “out to the ball game” songs. It’s always fun when we have both the round dancers and square dancers for the evening. Ned and Fricka provided the “Cinco de Mayo” Mexican style refreshments, dips and snacks. I heard Ned prepared most of the yummy foods and they were very tasty!!!  They also provided the Cinco de Mayo decorations which added to the festive night.  Thanks to Ken, George, Ned and Fricka for a fun round and square dance evening.

Next week we have Matt Worley from VA Beach calling for us. We look forward to seeing Matt again.

Tuckahoe Update 4-18-2018

Hi Tuckahoe Square Dancers,

We had a fun Spring Dance with David Staples calling and Christina Eum cueing. We always enjoy having Christina cueing for us and starting the evening with rounds. This was David’s farewell dance for the Richmond area as he will no longer be traveling this far. He will be spending more time locally to be with his family/grandchildren and enjoying activities with them. There were dancers from several clubs around the area joining us for lots of dancing and enjoyment. We had delicious refreshments, snacks and cakes to enjoy provided by the Tuckahoe Squares members. Thanks to David, Christina, and the Tuckahoe Squares members for a fun evening.

GRADUATION:
A huge “Thank you” to Gene for teaching square dance lessons again for Tuckahoe Squares. We are so lucky for having Gene and his talents,
“The Best Teacher” !!!!

Our “Graduation” dance and party for the students was super fun last night!!  There were four squares on the floor with everyone smiling, laughing, and enjoying as Gene put us through the paces for the last time. Deby presided over the graduation ceremony presenting the students with their certificates and sharing with them that square dancing was “friendship, family, friends and fun”. She recognized our students, Mark and Heidi, Allen, Michael, Debbie and Kate and presented them with a special folder of information, 2018 dance schedule and membership. For Allen, Michael, Heidi and Mark, who are joining Tuckahoe Square Dance Club, they were presented their name badges. Also recognized were our faithful “Angels” (who attended 10 or more classes) and presented them with an Angel dangle representing our appreciation for being there to assist the students. Also thanks to all the Angels who came to classes. We could not do without them!!  Dave was there watching over the squares for his last time to be sure seasoned dancers and students were partnered up equally. We are going to miss Dave who has been assisting square dance lessons for 4 years. Hopefully he will be an Angel in the future. Also, thank you Dave for the “Graduation” cake.

A Special “Thank you” to Deby and Dave, 1st VPs and Co-Chairs for dance lessons, and “Angels” for a great square dance class!!

NOTE:  For information or questions on 2018-2019 square dance lessons, see Deby or Davia.
