Tuckahoe Update 8-22-2017

WOW! We had so much fun dancing to Bob Clinebell’s calls and music. Bob taught a new call to most of the Tuckahoe Squares…the ”Grand Spin”!! He also did some “Oldies but Goodies” music,  lead a couple of line dancing songs, and of course, called “Popeye the Sailor Man”, my favorite!!! Bob did a new dancer tip for Bill and Deby’s son Tom and friends so they could participate. They had such a good time. It was truly a fun evening. Arthur, Brent and Bill provided the refreshments along with a “Solar Eclipse” theme…how appropriate with the eclipse event on Monday! The strawberry short cakes and cherry pastry were awesome along with the other snacks. Brent did the solar eclipse replicas and provided solar “fake” sunglasses for the décor. There was an all-girls square wearing the solar eclipse sunglasses and Rob filmed it all!! Now showing on Facebook!!!   Fun, Fun, Fun!!!!  Thanks Bob, Arthur, Brent, Bill and Rob.

This week Larry Winegard from the Shenandoah Valley area will be our guest caller bringing us great music and a variety of calls. We always have a fun time when Larry is here. We look forward to seeing him Friday evening.

Next week, September 1st,  our own Gene Chamberlain will be our guest caller. He will be providing great square dancing music and calls for our “Blast from the Past” evening. “Don’t forget” your photos from your past!  You can bring pictures from cradle to college so we can guess who’s who! Should be fun!!  We will have a table to display photos!

September 8th will be the Fall Quarterly Meeting starting at 6:45pm. Members with last names starting with “L thru O” will bring the refreshments for the dance. Chris Stacy will be our guest caller for the evening.

September 15th we will have our annual “Fish Fry” at All Saints Episcopal Church. All members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Vance McDaniel will be our guest caller.

September 22nd will be our “Talk Like a Pirate” dance with the guest caller, Ken Ritucci. This will be another fun square dancing evening. Be sure to wear your pirate outfit.

DON’T FORGET:   The VIRGINIA STATE FAIR will be starting September 29th through October 8th and there will be squaring dancing demos with audience participation. The State Fair will be held at the Meadow Event Park in Doswell. Entry tickets and parking passes will be available for volunteer dancers. Contact Connie Cox at 434-298-1206 or by email cc_rca@yahoo.com if you can participate and when you are available to dance. It will be a great time to demonstrate square dancing to the public.

Let’s “Load the Boat” with everyone square dancing and enjoying the fun.
